Accommodations

We have held a block of rooms at Casa Mexicana Cozumel, located in downtown Cozumel. To reserve your room for the dates you want, please call 1-877-228-6747 and ask for the Reservations Desk. (They will answer in Spanish, but seem to speak English fairly well, too!) Ask for the Witten, Carmen Wedding Party Reservation, and they will accept payment for your room. If you have trouble getting through on this number, you can also call Internationally, 011-52-987-872-9090 - or give us a call and we can help you out!

When making your reservation, you will have the choice of an Ocean View Room or a City View Room. We have received a discount on both types of rooms, as follows:

Ocean View, $135 per night (2 people)
City View, $108 per night (2 people)
Kids under 12 are free, otherwise $25 additional for the 3rd person, etc.
( We have heard the Ocean View Rooms have a spectacular view!)

These rooms are guarantee at this rate until Thursday, November 4, so please make your reservation before then if at all possible. Payment is not due on the rooms until December 12. To receive this discounted rate, there is a 4 night minimum stay at the hotel, however if you are not planning to stay that long please let us know and we can work something out.

How do we get there?

There are several options for you to get to Cozumel:

1. You can fly directly into Cozumel. We found that these flights tended to be slightly more expensive than option 2, below.

2. You can fly into Cancun. Frontier Airlines actually flies direct from Kansas City to Cancun, and these were the cheapest flights we found! You guys are lucky! However, flying into Cancun will require a transfer between Cancun and Cozumel. (Cancun is located approximately 30 miles North of Cozumel.) Details of this transfer:

- You can catch a small commuter flight from Cancun to Cozumel, which is about $60 each way
OR
- You can take a van from the Cancun airport to Playa del Carmen, then take a ferry across to Cozumel. This is about $24 per person, each way... and it sounds like an adventure! :-)

Either way, let us know and we'll be glad to give you more details of how to get between these 2 locations.

The dates you choose to travel will of course play a large part in the ticket prices. We found tickets for $402 from Kansas City to Cancun (leaving on Monday 12/27 and returning on Monday 1/3) on Orbitz (www.orbitz.com). If you use Orbitz to purchase your tickets, we suggest utilizing their multi-day search to find the best deals around the Holidays.

Once you arrive you will need to show your US Passport or a valid US drivers license and an official copy of your birth certificate (with a raised seal).

What's the dress code for the Wedding?

Carmen will be wearing a simple wedding dress for the ceremony - sans shoes. Kurt will be wearing a traditional Mexican wedding shirt (guayabera) and linen pants. We would like to encourage you to dress comfortably and think "tropical". Definitely no ties or jackets and we may even encourage you take off your shoes for the ceremony.

After the ceremony we will be embarking on a sail boat ride and then going to a nice restaurant for dinner so please plan accordingly.

Do I need to pack anything special?

Here's a quick list of things we've found handy when traveling south:

Sunscreen Insect Repellent (High DEET %)
Pocket Flashlight Money Belt (Under your clothes)
Back Pack (Day Pack) Spanish/English Dictionary
Water Bottle Pad Lock and Cable (Maybe)
Lip Balm Sport Sandals
Imodium AD Swim Suit(s)
Extra stash fund in US dollars/AMEX Film and extra camera battery
Hat Memorize Current Exchange Rate
